The Theater, the Theater! What's happened to the Theater?

REVIEW OF ‘PHANTOM OF THE OPERA’
Broadway Touring Company performance, July 3, 8 p.m.
The Fabulous Fox Theatre, Atlanta

JOEL’s VIEW …

The show was phenomenal. Everyone was at his or her best.

It was amazing how the candlesticks came from under the stage during the title number. The lighting was outstanding. Of course the costumes were unbelievable.

All three of the leads were great as always. Tim Martin Gleason, the longest running Raoul in history, was fantastic as the Phantom. He has played Raoul over 2500 times.

Trista Moldovan was absolutely magnificent (even though my mom says she sings with too much vibrato). Sean McLaughlin was pretty good as Raoul. He had, I think, too low of a voice to perform the role of Raoul. You have to pretty much be a tenor to portray Raoul. D.C.

Anderson and Michael McCoy were great as the comedic managers, Monsieur Richard Firmin and Monsieur Gilles Andre. Kim Stengel did very well as Carlotta Guidicelli, the prima donna soprano. Nancy Hess did a great job as Madame Giry. Luke Grooms was fantastic and hilarious as the over-the-top tenor and husband to Carlotta Guidicelli,
Ubaldo Piangi.

I didn’t really like the girl who played Meg Giry. She was the understudy of the person who was supposed to play Meg.

I would recommend this show to any theater fan, no matter who is in it. It is a thrill to see.

You will remember the time you saw Phantom of the Opera once you’ve seen it.
